Dream Up

I

It was a parade out on the 62
Made of flashing light in red white and blue
And I heard the voice of authority say
Nothing to see but get out of the way

When it turned off down my road then I saw why
And something dark and secret passed me by
Carried by the flashing red white and blue light
On its way to 29 Palms tonight

And maybe I never quite saw anything
But something not right for imagining
Was not looking very imaginary
I was wary because it looked scary

The flashing light in the middle of the night
A warning light of something not to say
Something maybe not right I saw if not quite
Red white and blue riddling down the highway

II

Stupid and cruel
Is how it gets now when
Hate is the fuel
For the machinery
Of stupidity
Getting cruel again

Descending into
What we were better than
The nightmare come true
That we are going through
When everyone can
See the trickery now

Sickening to see
But maybe this is how
We see out from in
The thick of it to be
Sick of it now to
Do what has to be done

When nightmares come true
We better wake up then
Rise up like the sun
And surprise everyone
Better than we knew
To dream up something new

III

So many fight about it
I try not to write about it
But then again no doubt it
Is something that I suffer from
Now becoming worrisome

Something I hope to overcome
I hope it will go away
Voted out in a rout someday
And may it never return

Waiting for tomorrow to come
Fate awaiting us today
May it be that we live and learn
From the lesson given here
May we learn not to live in fear

Not like this not this way
Is what I mean to say
