Naomi for Mildred Naomi Eckart Graham 22 August 1905 - 8 November 2001 My Grandma used to say We might as well laugh as to cry Through World Wars One and Two Depression and repression too Seeing her people die Having to let go to get through By being anyway She learned the hard way what she knew But she knew what to do Naomi was her name back when She was on the prairie Milly in the 20s roaring With Johnny the Barber Through times that were as tough as her Never being boring Being extraordinary Before I knew her then As Grandma being someone who Knew how from having been To get through it now and get by Somehow and then to say We might as well laugh as to cry And I knew it was true Naomi this poem and I Would never have been but for you Steven Curtis Lance

Wonderful ode to your grandmother. That last line is so true. So many of us don't realize how much our maternal grandparents were why we are here as well as their love for us.
