The Wind

The wind blew yesterday
Through the Hi-Desert hideaway
Threw everything around
Unscrewed a dead tree from the ground

Sending it sailing and
Assailing everything with sand
Shattering all the dry
Fall leaves heaving sticks through the sky

Battering the walls to
Matter enough to worry through
Making us stay awake
Shaking the house like an earthquake

Like something hazardous
For three old animals like us
Here snuggled up within
Dug in against the wind again

In a high wind event
That went on and on but it went
Not uneventfully
But it went eventually

I liked the howling sound
It made I thought impressively
Swirling around and round
Marisol and Bowser and me

But I wondered if we
Might after all be blown away
Before we got to see
It snow Thanksgiving like they say

So wind if you must blow
As just the thing that you must do
Then I can understand
But I hope now I can trust you

I hope my wish comes true
And trust you know next time bring snow

Those masses of cold air that swoop down and bring the snow bring that wind with them. Glad that you got through it with your two friends this time and hope you have snow today.

The wind blew here yesterday with sustained gusts of 60 mph. Today I've got lots of cleanup to do. The power of nature never ceases to amaze me. Batten down the hatches.

Great longing for the snow. Well, all I can say is that you might not like it when it finally arrives.
