Like I should know or if so I could say
Somebody asked me what wisdom was
Making me wonder if I had learned any
By mistake like everybody does
Through shakeups and breakdowns of yesterday
Waking up today I wonder if I know
Wisdom is what you learn the hard way
But you have to have been mistaken before
After all it takes time anyway
To shake off a mistake when you make it
Might take quite some time if you make too many
Taking from them what you remember
That hurts to learn but earns you a turn to grow
Whatever could not break you in May
Makes what it takes to make it through December
Try to make it there without regret
Unless you could forget like I could not
Regret can be scary and mine was very
Heavy to carry so I let it go
But the things that I could not forget
Are like battle stars for the scars that I got
Still starry-eyed but not scared anymore
Scarred by the hard way but having learned a lot
Everyone makes mistakes and that's why they put erasers on pencils. It's all in using that eraser and redoing it correctly. I believe we learn more by the mistakes we try not to repeat............there's the wisdom............being mindful. Great write, Steven!
Most of us go through the school of hard knocks, some of us harder than others. It is human nature to make mistakes. It is how we deal with them that makes a difference.
