Someday the world may go on to know
A cautionary tale from history
Maybe like South Africa before
Or North Korea know a little more
For this misanthropic mystery
Its bitterness and its twittering rage
An awkward age for reality
When they turn the page and burn the sage to
Quench the stench of tragicomedy
May they think of us and what we went through
Sinking in the stinking vanity
Of this bitter little brittle ego
Fighting the light right down to the end
But may it end up we mend and transcend
May we go on when the ego is gone
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
Love ya!
