The Tao of Love
by Bill Cottringer
The way of love—
One way, then another,
But hopefully headed home.
We marry for one reason,
Being who they are,
But the aim is off.
What we really want,
Is true love,
Or how well,
They make us feel,
Bringing out our best.
When things go the other way,
Which brings out our worst,
That is the unhappiness,
That often ends us.
But when we can weather,
This unwanted way of love,
We get past the bad,
And appreciate the good,
Still left in the way,
They make us feel.
This way,
Is the way,
We call true love—
Liking who we both are,
Loving how we both feel.
