What is Reality?

By

Bill Cottringer

What is reality,

Really?

Something we perceive?

Anything we conceive?

Everything we believe?

Or nothing we misperceive,

Misconceive or disbelieve?

Illusions do deceive—

Time, separation, creation,

Ego and free will,

At least until,

We finally become still;

Maybe the only reality,

We can really see,

Is when we are free,

From all we think we see;

Or just what is left,

From all the rest,

Of what we’ve guessed?

The Prosperity Zone

In retrospect, I think my main purpose in writing this poem was to reiterate a quote I have hear Nicholas Case use twice now in two different movies: "Truth and Beauty (reality) are what is left after you can't add or subtract anything from it." Cheers! Bill C.

well, too many question marks do not mean a philosophical attitude while there are only two of them which are classically significant: to be or not to be; that's it. This means that reality is what is against each of us, individuality, with one's perception and approach to realize it with the best of one's limits. A nice thought. Cheers, alex

Reality can be many a thing to different people, when we live in the present moment we best open our eyes cuz we only come across it once,
well done William xo

We can philosophize a lot about reality but… We come face to face with it when we are deprived of oxygen for more than two minutes. Deprived of water for three days. Deprived of food for 21 days. Our skin is pierced by a foreign object. We are crushed. We experience a G-force greater than nine atmospheres or other myriad reality checks.
