Regrets
By
Bill Cottringer
Any regrets?
Sure, plenty,
Crossroad choices—
What to do or say?
What to feel or believe?
Who to trust?
Opportunity or danger?
Right or wrong?
Choices in schools and jobs,
Work and play,
Relationships and friends,
Too many tough choices.
But one thing to know—
Opportunities come in twos,
Also, best to know,
When the first one,
Has already come and gone,
But you never know,
Before the seeds you sow,
Finally grow and start to show,
And then you see,
Where you stand,
From all your choices.
Too much wrong,
Not enough right?
Another thing to know—
Regrets only matter,
If who you are,
And where you are,
Are not what you want,
From all the choices you made,
And all the ones still ahead,
Making you afraid,
Then they do matter;
But on the other hand,
if you like who you are,
And where you are,
Regrets don’t matter,
They made you.
For who you are,
And where you are,
Either way,
The choice is still yours.
