Resilience

A little poem about resilience--what is it? How do you get it?

 Resilience

By Bill Cottringer

What is it?

Bending but not breaking,

Not quitting too soon,

Bouncing back,

Recovering from misfortune,

Tenacity, toughness, talent,

Overcoming adversity,

Embracing failure,

All these and more.

How to get it?

An attitude and habit,

Practice makes perfect.

You are a good example of resilience Ron. You are a resilient super hero!! Your life is a model for others to emulate. The picture was our resilient river (ten feet from our house) that has resumed some degree of normalcy after the flooding disaster here in Western WA.

A great review of what it takes to be resilient. I have experienced much of those. Especially, attitude and habit.

Through everything that's happened badly for me, I've always kept a positive attitude. No use worrying and wasting precious time about water under the bridge. It's gone and you can't get it back.

Early on in life, I started practicing good habits. Quitting work early to relax. Going to bed every night at a reasonable hour and sleeping a full night, getting up at the same time every morning ready to face the day.

Eating the right food. Exercising rather than being lazy when it came to little things like climbing the stairs rather than taking the elevator and mowing my own lawns rather than hiring someone else to do it for me. Always remembering my elders and looking after them when I could.

Ron
