LA Perspective

Poem Artwork

Downtown dirt sleep

Gutter is your grave

Coffin doesn’t matter

Choice made you a slave

Midtown Florals

Blossoms mark the spot

Crucifixion candles

Illuminate who had not

Uptown Limos

Cart away their dead

Slotted Mausoleums

Somehow sooth the dread

In the end it doesn’t matter

Your station matters naught

For as you draw your last sweet breath

Your legacy is wrought

Wrought... rot, it's all the same old dirt.

Grave, dark humor.

I guess in the end, dirt or dust is all there is but what we do while upright, above ground is what there really is.

Superb poetry, Patrick! Such realism in poetic form, quite stunning!

There is so much truth in this. It would make me think that while living on this plane of life, one would want to make all things beautiful because in the end the soil is just the soil. Dirt Sleep is reality in mortality. This comes from deep in the soul, Patrick. I appreciate this style of poetry. Grave markers rest at the plot of poets, too...then it is when poets become famous, in their dirt sleep.

Love,
Sage

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
