Poem Artwork

Holy man rode in on Friday

Ghost rider in tow

Crimson steed accomplice

Shepherding the sun and the moon

Away for safe keeping

Rainy day insurance policy

Successful encounter

Finds the pagans safe and sound

The blood sport hounds instill cooperation

Nooks and crannies like widow glass

Instant salvation for the unwilling

Saturday the hooves turn red

Maize pot bubbles with contempt

Arrowhead’s parabolic journey

Intersects truth

Holy cavalry reconstitutes

Encourages active participation

In Sunday’s service

Offering plate is passed

Comes up empty

Insurance policy cancelled

Midwife Petroglyph

Saddle leather creaks
Quail fly high
Peyote trail

Horse's tail
Swishes hallucination's hunger
Ring-tail pheasant roasts on the spit

Wrath of destroyers
Struggles of women
After Wife scars carved the midwife petroglyph
