What on earth

Would Pythagoras have done

If he’d had the birth number two

Instead of number one

Would he shun his astronomy

His mathematics and more

Would we have his perfect triangle

Of two, three and four

Would our music be different

Or exactly the same

The theorem he’s named for

Would someone else claim

I think life is a triangle

With two legs and a base

The isosceles variety

As I make my case

If base angles reflect

Your life’s points of view

Then wider is better

But less stable too

Larger angles they make

The vertexes taller

But the size of the base

Becomes decidedly smaller

Small angles diminish

The height of their peaks

But the narrow points of view

Grows a strong base that speaks

There’s safety in numbers

In shallow points of views

But our lives are determined

By the angles we choose
