bought two tickets

hoping to share them

The Beatles to see.

Nearly never happened

too nervous to ask

even got her name wrong

you have to laugh.

She said yes

so there the story began,

now all those years that have past

the ups and downs

as well as the laughs,

from children to granchildren

from pay to pension.

Yet nothing has changed

I love her so much

and to that end there are no buts.

Always my equal

the two become one,

just wish we could scrap

our sell by date

and do it all again.

Do not want there to be

no end through death

hate the idea

of my going and she is left.

I smile to myself

maybe she will have fun

I hope so

no point leaving the race

un-run,

we have come this far

so lets finish what we have begun.
