Your Poem returns me to 1970 and a young Vietnam vet I shared by perspective on the art of words. He was trying to both write and find his way back from his horrors of war. Keep writing and realize you are Home.

Michael, This poem is an amazing profession of your inner strength and loyalty. My ex husband was drafted in 1972 into the Vietnam War, he luckily didn't go overseas, but was very loyal to the Air Force. After his tour of duty, he went into the Air National Guard, where he stayed until retirement. He has seen much and I have experienced much through his eyes. No one can walk in your shoes, but just know that I understand where you have come from. It is not an easy life, but there are many rewards and I know much sacrifice. I feel proud and lucky to know that you were one of those soldiers that cared about their fellow man and you do and did all that you possibly could do to make a difference.
You are blessed with a keen sense of wisdom at such a young age, never lose sight of who you are and what your destiny holds.
I see good things for you, and know that there are angels looking over you.

I love your third stanza... for without the support of a soldier's country he is nothing but a man fighting without a cause.
