The Waiting

You hide among my memories,

          you dwell within my dreams.

You share your thoughts with no one here,

          just me, or so it seems.

I share my thoughts with only you,

          for no one else can hear.

They fail to listen to my heart,

          although it's very clear.

Perhaps it's just this endless age,

          the age in which I dwell.

That keeps you here, so very close,

          though no one else can tell.

I'll never let you pass beyond,

          this place within my heart.

I'll never lose your love again,

          the pain will never start.

I live in dreams with memories,

          the memories of your love.

I feel your closeness deep inside,

          I see your face above.

At times I feel you waiting,

          yes, just waiting for me there.

The test of time will finally end,

          eternity we'll share.

I know the patience of your love,

          you've waited for so long.

The love we shared so secretly,

          lives on within our song.

I wonder when the time will come,

          the time that takes me home.

I'll feel the comfort of your arms,

          I'll see the love you've shown.

You keep me safe as time goes by,

          you know my every thought.

We'll someday live the life we need,

          the life for which we fought.

For now I'll keep you tucked away,

          our secret safe within.

I live to see your face again,

          yet never knowing when.
