Ave Maria echoes from the rafters of the domed cathedral
It pierces the silence of doom that befriends the dead
Organs become mute to voices of angels here for burial
Where war returns the Patriot to his beloved unafraid
Colors of bravery cloak the pine as tears wash over his courage
Grief is alive while bravery is spoken instead
Mortals grieve for the Gods of Destiny
Festooned with wings now the sons of the Dead
Ava Maria the chorus of angels sing to the spirits
While hearts reach out for love that will never be fed .
Wow...a very deep and realistic view of thought...your display is very well written and gives the reader a sad yet true view of the realities of war....and life...nice work...
it's sad and scary when we think of what's "over there" in the Middle East it's about a loss (in the pine) but it's late good job

Highly emotional, the feeling of grief mixed with the patriotism and bravery of a killed soldier. Excllent. I wish I could hear Schubert's Ave Maria as I read it. It would have been a superlative experience. Victor

This kind of "facing up" starts for us in childhood, preparing us for the "great occasion" when we will need to be brave... whichever side of the pine box you ultimately find yourself on - inside or out.
