Another haunting tale about Savannah.

Poem Artwork

There is a book called "By the Edge of Raven Pool." It was written by Hansel Hillyer, a Savannahian. It is currently out of print. I read it when I was a young girl and my father took me to this home on Taylor Street in historic Savannah, Georgia.
Ossabaw Sound is between the Atlantic Ocean and the port of Savannah. Please see "The Ghost Ship of Ossabaw Sound...the Sea Witch" for relevance to "The Edge of Raven Pool".
This is the mystery of a young girl's dreams when looking for the answers of Raven Pool.
~SKdeV~~

She was the Mistress of Raven Pool
Tall and lithe and blonde
Her mother hailed from Ireland
Her father from parts beyond

Savannah her home for 200 years
Though living was once her fate
She walks the veranda of her old home
Her husband she seeks at the gate

He vowed to return to take her away
This cavalier seaman of yore
He sailed away captain of the "Sea Witch"
Her heart bedded deep in his core

His ship went down in Ossabaw Sound
Attempting to keep it fit
He struggled to keep his men alive
When the winds of the hurricane hit

She felt in her heart a stabbing part
As the weather turned to cool
They found her next day where the children played
By the edge of Raven Pool

She searches for him when the winds blow hard
He steers the "Sea Witche's" roam
Both to be doomed to do without
Attempting to bring their hearts home

" She found in her heart a stabbing part, as the weather turned to cool, They found her next day where the children played by the edge
of raven pool" This is the unconditional part of true love that few
know and even fewer understand. Excellent. Love,Pierre

This is a riveting tale of love and longing for your loved one. This is what ghost stories are made of and sadden the heart.

When are you going to put together a "Savannah's Heart" book of soulful stories of old Savannah . . . Even the new Savannah? You have the knack and the knack is something you cannot buy beg or steal . . . Raven's Pool took me there . . .
