I sent message to everyone on my buddy list –just my usual Grace and peace and may God’s blessing be abundant in your life type message. 

Please understand I’m never one to offend but my question is when did we become so insulted and offended?

What happened to people having thick skins?

What happened to the days that feelings were not hurt so easily?

Well get this—

One person responded to me at the end of the day no less (But she was ONLINE alllll day).  Her response was “How insulting – I’m an atheist but I think you knew that”

Well Heffa NO I did not know that – how bout I don’t even know you.  You were only on my buddy list as a reminder of someone to contact for possible professional reasons. I’ve seen her around and online in similar clubs and from what I knew of her professionally I figured we could help each other out.   

Oh but wait I did contact her on several occasions prior to that day and in several ways in regards to what she does (she’s an artist).  Never did I receive a response.

But lo and behold this hooch decided to respond to a message that mentioned GOD and tell me she is insulted.

But guess what I did – Yep I apologized. (being my kind, considerate, respectful and raised correctly self) “Sorry did not mean to offend you. I had no idea you were an atheist.

But how insulting it is for someone to always claim they are insulted. 

How ignorant of you to blast off at me without knowing the facts.  How ugly of you to respond after months of not saying a word.  And how in all Sam’s hell or whatever you believe in and God’s wonderful Earth do you come at me like some buffoon implying I sent you the message knowing you don’t believe in God.  Chick you don’t know me nor I you – heck I’ve made attempts to contact you several times to no avail. Well thank you and have a lovely day.”

I deleted her and signed off

Then I got to thinking and it pissed me off.  So I went back and checked out her profile and messages in clubs and there was never any indication that she did not believe in God. Not to mention it was not the first message I sent of that type 2 her or anyone else for that matter. 

But back to my point

When did we become so insulted?

When did we start making big deals out of little things?

Why must everything be so offensive?

It really irked me that this chick took it there especially since if there is anyone mindful and respectful of others religious and cultural beliefs it is I. 

I tell ya it really makes me wonder what kind of land we live in

What does democracy, free speech and all that really means?

When did we become such punks?

Could it be when the government allowed us to sue someone that insults us?

Was it when out mothers stopped loving us and showing us the love we really needed and deserved?

Or Is it when we were told to stop crying and get over it as children and now we are adults and we are in need and re-living?

Or Is it when we cried as babies and were ignored and grandma or the ole wise aunt yelled “You don’t want a spoiled child- let her cry”

Or was it when the ole church folks said “Put that baby down.  Stop toting him around –make him walk.”

Was it when judges and dignitaries decided they know what is best for us while they sit behind bulletproof glass

(shaking my head) I don’t know what’s better – back in time when we were so critical and we stoned often ands judged less.

Or now when we bitch, moan, and sue over every little thing.

How bout we do something I always thought a novel idea.  Get over ourselves!  Get a clue, get some real friends and colleagues that will tell you the truth and you can tear each other down as well as build each other up.   How bout focusing more on the things that bind us together rather than the things that rip us apart. 

Well wherever she is I hope she gets over her insults and get a real clue
