QUESTIONS
Is writing poetry to your sweetheart
really that old fashioned?
Even when it’s written words,
isn’t it still considered passion?
Would we ever know true happiness,
if we’ve never experienced sorrow?
Since the day that we first met
you’ve been my new tomorrow.
Would we ever enjoy our companionship,
if we’d never been alone?
Could I appreciate your warmth
without the loneliness I’ve known.
Could we maintain our sanity
without just a little madness?
Can we ever experience real joy,
if we haven’t known some sadness?
Would we ever enjoy a rainbow
if there were never any rain?
Could we even recognize pure pleasure,
if we never suffered pain?
Could we recognize true beauty,
without the ugly side of life?
Will we ever know contentment,
without a little stress & strife?
Could we ever be courageous,
if we’ve never been afraid?
Would we ever feel real trust,
if we’ve never been betrayed?
Could we really appreciate our freedom,
if we never have felt caged?
Could we ever feel compassion
if we haven’t known some rage?
Can we ever experience love,
if we’ve never known hate?
Can we ever know contentment,
if we’ve never tempted fate?
Would we appreciate the sunshine,
if there were never a cloudy day?
Would we know about true love,
had we arrived here a different way?
I don’t have the answers.
They’re just questions, don’t you see?
But, we could seek them together,
if you’ll just come along with me?

the depth, the meaning...the wisdom
I must say too I especially Love this:
"Could we ever be courageous,
if we’ve never been afraid?
Would we ever feel real trust,
if we’ve never been betrayed?"
It is a terrible thing to be betrayed
but in that we all know just how precious
our emotional love is...and it's protection
