Some diamonds can't be processed. My father was one. After 7 kids my mother finally had enough and left him when I was 9 years old.
Every womans desire, sets their heart and soul on fire. Even in the rough, a nice diamond would be enough. She'd take it somewhere for processing, without even second guessing.
He's her lover by selection, a diamond in the rough connection. He took her to the altar, later on he did falter. She wouldn't give up, even though her lover was corrupt.
The abuse continued on for years, during this time she shed many tears. The relationship was tough, she should have given up sooner on her diamond in the rough. Finally she did, because she had enough. He would not yield, so she threw him back in the field.
Sounds a lot like my mom. I grew up in a single home, I was one year old when my mom threw my dad back in the field! Best move she ever made. She was a survivor and taught her three children about survival, dignity, pride, self respect, love, laughter, believing in our selves and others as well as being independent. She was the rock for our family and never once did I ever miss not having a father around, my grandfather did many of the things that a dad is supposed to do, and my older brother. My mom raised three good children who all three have families of their own, and she is happy with her own life! Great write One, a write that I can relate well to.

In my household I didn't know who was the abuser and who was supposed to be the abused, they took turns to banter each other into a state of rage, when I was twelve I had enough and was out of there, saddly taking with me the scars and stuff inside me that could make any shrink a few times over a millionaire.
Abuse comes in many a shade, children pay the price of anything that got broken.

BET She grew STRONGER by the year!
I love the way this poem was written ONEPOEt-Grady-
Her diamond in the ruff... smart guy you are!
Strong determined mom she was!
That is ONE thing *( Lately I thought of a few more great skills she
has/had) but, that one thing Determination got my mom through many
tough roads ahead, as I feel your mom went through and pretty often!
My mom should of given up sooner, but did not either, I could never understand, but that was her choice.
Glad something more woke your mom up!
Missed you and your heart, glad to see you here tonight!ONE
