In Her Mothers Arms (Krissy)

Written during my ECA days. Krissy was a friend who killed herself by slicing her face. She was a beautiful girl but years of confinement .. Years of looking at her mothers face in the mirror..years of dreaming of her mothers love took it's toll. She is always remembered.

Poem Artwork

To an old friend..

Two pills in the morning
to keep you calm..
Make sure you don't have any
thoughts of your own.
Take orders
make your bed
wash the floors..
Every chore
worth two points or more..
Institutional robots
that is what they are.
Watch your friend
slice her face..
Even robots find
a way to escape.
She walks down the hallway..
Blood flows through
open wounds...
She does not want to be saved.
So tired of living this way.
Existing.
On points and rules..
Like a machine..
Not human..
Not of this world..
She dreams only of
being in her mothers arms..
when she was a little girl..
It gets harder
to find her memories..
Through the haze of these drugs..
She does not want to live..
she no longer has family..
No home..
No love...
No longer a pretty girl..
She took away her face..
Now she will
never have to worry..
about finding love someday....
No one has to care..
No one has to know..
She takes her own life..
This is one thing
she alone controls.
She closes her eyes
and dreams only of being
in her mothers arms..
When she was just a girl..
This is all she craves
and hopes to find again
as she leaves this world.

Suicide, so easy to blame and also so easy to miss the 'Why?'
She will never fade as long as she is in your heart.

Emotions brought through rememberings of a heart that cares.

... I have learned some secrets of life "In Her Mothers Arms" (Krissy) -which flows from the nostalgic river of a soul that poemizes life with the force of love.

"In Her Mothers Arms" (Krissy) is a sad poem, but its rhythm in natural fluence makes the reading of it a pleasure.

I thank You Author Poet Erica Ivory for sharing beauty and art.
