Poem Artwork

After coming home from a road trip, I like to crawl into my bed, crank down the A/C and in the comfort of my quiet bedroom, I’ll snuggle under my duvet. Sometimes, well actually most of the time, I will think about you. Except when I force myself not to, like when the tears overflow from my tired heart. Then I’ll search for a mental escape from myself. I know I can  never truly love you…and that, more than anything that ever passed between us, hurts me the most. So here’s to loving you one last time. Cheers.

Now go smile for the ones who love you when I can’t; go show the bad boys how to really make things work; go live…and me? I’ll go grab the vodka out of the freezer and pretend I never wrote this letter.

Always yours…

Beautiful example of a relentless, emotional self-examination. Don't forget the alcohol means 'the evil spirit' in Arabic. Franz

Love is like alcohol...it can be lots of fun to play with, can seem better as you go...but then you regain consciousness and vow to never touch it again. Yeah...right. Nothing quenches hope or heartache, but once the hangover's gone you'll feel much better.
Cheers, doll.

Very sad write.
Time, faith, hope and true love are healers. But vodka? I doubt it.

Hope your broken heart will heal soon.

amen.... have one for me
as long as you know
when to cork it.
nothing wrong with that.
at one time I used to take
a double of what ever was available,
to get to sleep.

Sara.. few poets/writers can yank the honest words we harbor, keeping them to ourselves, and weave them together so we can't deny that we not only recognize them, we're a bit relieved to let them escape. I know this is probably a painful post for you, but in the sharing, I'm quite sure you've reached many out here. Well said! katy xox.
