How we look to the world is usually very different from how we feel inside.

Poem Artwork

I’ve hid myself
so many times
that I don’t even know me
And after nearly half a century
of misery I still look into my eyes
where in its soft hue
I can see my longing for you.

But deep inside
far out of normal sight
where hearts are felt
and hope resides
an internal debate pursues me.
Do I love me?
Do I love me not?

Soon every imperfection
becomes the basis for rejection
until all my strength evades me.
The love not’s win over the love I do’s
eroding any value accepted.
When tearfully I reflect
I never really wanted to know me.

Sara,

I've had to learn this painful lesson myself: if people can't accept me for what I look like, phooey on them. I don't need to impress anyone but God and myself. :)

A shattering, powerfully penned reflection--and from what I see, you're beautiful inside AND out. So there. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

Nice pair I mean poem.
Being transparent shows strength of character..
It's easy to morbidly introspect. Yet just as easy to joyfully do the same. The exterior is never the thing to love in others or oneself. Cos that changes almost daily. The inner man is the thing to love and fall in love with.
Ones gotta run and love with what they got. As one moves onwards and upwards. Either seeing the mud or looking at the stars...

i was never one that concerned myself with appearance ... all i care about is what a person is about internally and i'm glad to have seen you ...

Among your many qualities the one I cherish most is your capacity to recognize and face truth. Again, being truthful means that we can only accept and love aspects of our own existence. There is a continuous struggle to turn mud into gold.

One who shares their eyes are full of truth. This by itself makes you a wonderful person. Hopefully someday you will look at this photo and see the beauty we are all seeing beyond the eyes.

I don't know if this is your picture with this poem but if it is you are as beautiful outside as you are inside. I always wonder what those poets I read look like especially their eyes and yours speak volumes especially in tune with this poem. Beautiful and passionately written. You have no reson to doubt yourself Sara...

It's the symptoms for many: Do we like ourselves? or do we not? Aaaarrrggghhhh!...

Anyway...I see a beauty in this photo.!
