It’s your ability to cordon off your heart.
Love on one side; work on the other.
Ha! How do you do it?
And yet...all I ever want
is to rest my head
onto your broad shoulders;
feel my body wrap up
inside your long powerful arms.
Or just sit next to you,
staring into your deep blue eyes,
and listen to your voice
as you speak of life;
with detailed drawings and stories
engineered for few to understand.
Sigh, my darling, I love the way you work!
It makes me weak.
Makes me want to breathe my love
into your heart...day after day.
And scares me that if I do
you’ll run away.
But right now, as I think back
to all the sweet moments we shared
I wonder helplessly:
How soon will it be
before I can come back to you?
Perfect poetry concerning someone who loves so intensely that she has a tendency to overpower her lover. Sometimes overpowering is not good. On the other hand too little affection and attention isn't either. Catch-22. Drat. Whut-ya-gonna-do, know whut-I-mean-dere?
It’s your ability to cordon off your heart.
Love on one side; work on the other.
OMG! I wish I'd written this. I relate to every line, Sara.
