What I really want to say is
Love,
...Sara
But, I am afraid of you
Afraid of falling for you
Afraid if I do
You won’t fall for me
So I’ll just sign off with
‘All the best’
Or, ‘Best regards’
Or, nothing at all
Keeping it cold
So things stay cool
As if through omission
I could contain my fever for you
And if my head gets too hot
I’ll go read a book
Devour somebody else’s history
Or the past through global misery
Anything at all, to not think
Or talk
Or feel
Or say
What I really want to express
Love,
...Sara
so beautifully sad...bittersweet words for a like subject, and yet...though it be subtle, there is a glimmer of hope in these words...this is a very well written piece, Sara.
To have been hurt by love, often times makes one afraid to come out of their protective shell. However, I rely on "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." I might get hurt, but I might find something absolutely incredibly wonderful. Take a chance - the ride might be glorious.

I knew a woman who once said to me "sometimes I just try to curl up as small as possible and try to pretend I'm nothing at all" despite the forlorn angst the poem is gentle, sensitive & beautifully written Saludos
Yes, afraid to stick your neck out again. Afraid to fall hard for some one who doesn't reciprocate. Beautiful poem about the confusion of relationships. Excellent Liz
