A Halloween challenge poem.

Deep in a pool, swirling red,
lay skeletons of the dead—
It was a night ALL should dread--
ghosts, goblins, ghouls raised their heads.
The pumpkin fields were a sight,
jack-o-lanterns THRIVE tonight!
They heard there's an office pool
that such things don't exist … the fools!
The office—attacked, ransacked.
A pool, swirling red, jam-packed
with skulls of the undead, smacked
of horrid joke? Enough said!

At dawn the next morn, screams ran
but didn't escape … what can?
Eyeless, no soul, eyes still scan,
scare bejabbers OUT of man!
Ghouls at computers playing,
ghosts flying and surveying,
all due to the office pool
that such things don't exist … what fools!
Slimed, their carpet oozed scarlet.
Lights, sans electric, were lit
with hollow screams, souls' torment.
A massacre? No comment!

Slayed as they entered the door;
here ghosts would dwell evermore.
Be careful what you pool for.
Are you sure what's real? What's lore?
The dead can make music, sing,
in our bathtubs … leave a ring.
They rose, an office pool, schooled.
Be careful of bets … no fools
would dare dead to rise. They rule!
If they go their way … it's cool.
Who needs an office? Red pooled?
