Refuse to be average or to surrender to the chill of your spiritual environment. [The Root Of The Righteous] Arthur Helps

The Ghost And Madame Fernandez

By the mists of icy shores
A spectre wandered and explored
In lonliness he walked the beach
Among the living......out of reach

Death's sleep had claimed him years ago
Thru under currents deadly tow
His breath was born of prior age
Three hundred years, frustration raged

Imprisioned by this lack of form
For heavens love, this spirit mourned
No voice or touch with living soul
Alas.....his nearness...made them cold

With hopelsss sigh, towards upwards skies
He felt a presence gliding by
And raised himself, neath midnight mask
To touch another....at long last

He followed thru the clouds and mist
To form  a bond......and coexist
Be it holy, damned or man
Connection was his only plan......

To be continued.......

Isolation and desolation come to mind. Nothing worse than desolation of spirit, a feeling of abandonment by God. Yet it is on our part that the desolation is activated. We turn from God not the other way round. Social isolation is a frustrating experience, especially in another land from home.

Evocative poem, Anita, and somewhat...

He followed thru the clouds and mist
To form a bond......and coexist

You've got me drooling, here, Anita. There's such a soulfulness in this "mournful" write which inspires pity and fascination in equal measures. This one could run and run... into the infinite lonely black hole where another AA is formed: Aloners Anonymous - thus to be disbanded as soon as it is started! Hope he and Mme F hit it off alright! Tantalising and excellently crafted write, thankyou. KB

I know there are evil spirits, although I don't believe in
"ghosts," but I certainly do believe in quality poetry...and
this is some of it.
