There was a door to which I found no key: There was the veil through which I might not see.~Omar Khayyam

ENCHANTED ENTRANCE

A door exists for those who see
By eye of heart.....and would believe
In all beyond the brace of day
For those who tread.....enchantment's way

From magic forest, wood was milled
Planed, and sanded, cut and drilled
Within the grains....a tale awaits
To open wide......the door to fate

To leave the world and past behind
Such sweet enchantment of the mind!!
A whispered breeze upon the path
Ushered by.......a sway......and laugh

Thoughts grow verdent, fertile trees,
Behind the door of vines and leaves
From roots to stem, on new from old
From wishes seeded in the soul

Jack Roberts & A Pax 2005

Jack is a wonderful carpenter.  I had this idea for a garden door last spring, drew a sketch and sent it to Jack.  My idea was to place the door in front of a shrub, so it looks like an entrance into a magical place...but my vision of it was small, maybe 10" or so.  I figured Jack could make these and sell them at craft shows.  He made me a door, sent it to me, and its as thick as a normal door, but a bit shorter!!! Love it...Placed it in my garden, in front of rocks, so it has a "Hobbit" feel to it.  The rest can be seen from the photo.......

We wrote this poem together for the door.

Fun!

That is utterly adorable, I love that door! And I'm with Miss Pandora, it made me think of Alice in Wonderland too, but your poem was fantastic as well. Great collaboration on concept and poem. ~ Sara

An alluring scene tomatch enticing words. This reminds me of a spot I know in the North Carolina mountains...a forested hillside...out of the way of civilization and deveolopment where there is a rock stairway climbng a rarely used hillside...an entrance to nowhere we all call"the stairway to heaven". Maybe it could use a door!

Taylor

An enchanting collaboration, you two, and a most enchanting garden door by Master Carpenter Jack. It does have a magical Hobbit look to it, too.
