Poem Artwork

Don't Look Up
 
I saw a floating island
I swear it was no lie
It floated clear as day light
Above in bluest skies
 
It carried cliffs and hillsides
And mightly waterfalls
As fauna roamed it's boarders
While birds sang sweetest call
 
I watched as though enchanted
Delightfully insane
A rainbow crowned it's shore line
After a gentle rain
 
Then gracefully decended
I ran to climb this shrine
It fell and crushed me flat as stone
And that was how I died
 
Sad sad sad
Poor me

Rockin Possiblities
 
Slipped from the tether
And up in the clouds
Giggles and wiggles
Laughing out loud
 
Nobody mentioned
Rocks cannot fly
Tethered by rules
No thought to try
 
A rock without ears
Nor eyes that could see
While gravity slept
It stole away free
 
Up thru the air
Over the clouds
Joining the stars
Brilliant and proud
 
Nobody mentioned
Rocks cannot fly
But anything's possible
When given a try!

YES!!!! Dali is EXACTLY what went through my head, too... but a delightfully female version, that is! :)) i.e. floating thistledown dandelion clocks instead of melting watchfaces... that kinda idea! Love this. Kate xx

APAX...I see you've beeb musing in dreams with Dali again. In my opinion...your poetry and some of Salvador's paintings would become an awesome galllery showing. I'd be lined up for that opening...for sure!

These two related pieces -perhaps two different interpretations of the picture?- Are both great. The last one though was my favorite as it was so light hearted and funny. It made me laugh and that is always a gift from one person to another. So, thank you. Just as a brief "housekeeping note": is it meant to be fauna roamed its borders?

Rocks flatten then fly away...winged...where will the pigs get theirs if the rocks take them all away?
