There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; Omitted, all the voyage of their life Is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat, And we must take the current when serves, Or lose our ventures. IV,iii,217 ~Shakesphere
Sea Witch
Words slipped like pearls From the wet of her tongue Her truth took a curl As salt lies were flung
Cursing by roar Laced with the winds Claiming the shores By receding skins
Where are the ships Where are the crews Stilled by sea witch Serving her brew
Poisonious froth, vesseled to brim Spilling and pulling Down deep Within
Drowning lost souls No count of the waste This witch will be judged On firey gates
TOTALLY BRILLIANT... Add it into the Shakespeare score this instant! Perfection in execution and concept - one of your very best, honestly! This lady has GOT to be a Celt! As powerful and surging as the waves she creates. Love this to pieces. Kate xx

The Sea Witch was a real ship that was part of the eastcoast pirate lore. She is said to be in the deep waters of Ossabaw Sound and many a ghost lies in wait for others who sail in those waters. Different character with your poem, however, the ship is always a woman for the mariners.

You grabbed this old salts attention from the first line and the graphic was eerily haunting. I have sailed in storms where I swear I even her the cackle of her laughter as the waves washed over my head. Excellant job...
