Moonlight Cachet
The wind blew a seed to my garden bed
Was striped like a rainbow, blue, green, yellow, red
The rain gently pushed it into the ground
The sun draped it's light and warmth like a gown
It slept there so snug, serene and secure
Its destiny magical, an unopened door
When Fate decreed, it pushed thru the earth
A labor so gentle, so pleasant, a birth
Grew straight to the sun, along with the rest
And silently harbored a small secret guest
It seems it was special and under a spell
Enchanted and magical, yet hid it so well
When the moonlight lit the ebony sky
A small glow shone forth like a blue firefly
The petals would open, and chimes could be heard
Bewildered enchantment blew round me windward
I followed the sound to my garden bed
Astonished by flora with petals widespread
For there in the center, was a sight do divine
The tinest creature this flower enshrined
With a yawn and a streath she stood on tiptoe
A miniature human, with wings of rainbow
I stood so still, my mind numb with shock
Was I dreaming, or did reality mock?
How could this be? This creature so small
Who sparkled, and glowed like a blue fireball
She smiled as our eyes met, then flew close to me
Her presence electric, her manner breezy
Tiny hands now outstretched to finger my hair
Still as a statue, I stood in nightware
Oh please let this be real! Not some insane dream!!
Nor lunar mirages caused by a moonbeam!
She heard my thoughts and shook her head , No
I'm real as the shadows, beneath the moons glow
So we sat and talked of kingdoms unknown
Where magic is common, and elves dance with crones
And magic a birthright thats never denied
A family tradion thats cherished with pride
And she told me that I had magic too
Down deep in my soul, since the day I was new
It was waiting to serve me, if I'd only ask
Conditioned ignoring, I gave it a mask
This wonderful teacher, gave lecture so dear
Spoken with mirth and logic sincere
I sat and I listened to reason so plain
Enchanted professor, my doubts, her campaign!
The shadows lightened, and soon the sun rose
The hours like seconds, her words were like prose
I now know the secrets and power of magic
They were mine all the time, unclaimed and tragic
To sum this night up, and the gift that she gave
Would make you think I was somewhat depraved
But now I've a secret, I carry all day
No matter the time, I've moonlight cachet!
