Poem Artwork

With the wealthy and ranked

Even remote kin will gather

At short notice to pay respect

Because of plenty of money

And assets in their possession.

Yet from homes of poor slaves

And low-yield plodding toilers

Even relatives by blood depart

With no care of the youngsters,

Sisters and brothers they have.

Make haste! You must return

To your good self and start

Your own master to be.

They now recruit the worthies,

But their established office

Is still closed for such folks

Like you. It’s simply to no avail

To walk along the Wall Street,

In the only leather shoes, man,

You have on all the year round.

Remember, wolves like wolves

That gobble up sheep and deer

In one fell swoop and instantly.

I agree almost completely. Now I've got to get back to my work at finding the foolproof timing system I've been working on for 50 years.

The homeless can walk along those towering walls without ever tasting any of that money so jealously guarded by those that already have it.

The New Debtors' Prison by Paul Lonardo

While Debtors prisons no longer exist, many people continue to be persecuted for crimes related to poverty or inability to repay money owed to municipalities. This practice remains in an injustice that needs to be rectified.
