Poem Artwork

Fresh sprouts are growing up,

Making the way thru the cold snaps.

It's such a striking example

For all those who're truly persistent

In obtaining statecraft

And winning leadership.

Even the most delicate sprouts,

When timely displaying persistence,

May form the frame of integrity,

Bringing the opposite forces to one,

Also considered as Subsistence.

The sagely minded leader tends

To put himself behind, and yet

He finds himself at the head of others;

Putting himself out of affairs,

He finds himself at the very centre

Of all the current issues and events.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The trick is to "put oneself behind" while being at "the very center", and being "at the head of others" while maintaining the integrity necessary for astute leadership, an attitude sorely lacking in this day and age.

I agree with you and with reviewer Michael Schafer. Interesting take on leadership.

And a sage leader can be strong, without being belligerent, and provocative. And he doesn't need to make it all about him.
