Alone

I wrote this one on 12 July 2005. It's funny how things happen. I was thinking about this beautiful girl from long ago. I hadn't seen her since we were teenagers. Today, she is my fiance.

Life is too short,

It goes by so fast.

I held you tight,

But it didn’t last.

 

I went one way,

You went the other.

We’re a million miles apart,

Both without a lover.

 

We’ve both become old,

But it’s only wrinkles in our skin.

I’ve thought about you for years,

Wishing to see you again.

 

If it’s meant to be,

God will show us the way.

Otherwise I must bid thee farewell,

And hope you have a nice day.
