Sometimes we yearn to relive the past. Pictured are my brother, Kenneth, the tallest, who will be seventy-eight in November, and is now in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. In the middle is my brother, Philip, who passed away from lung cancer in 2005. He would have turned seventy-three in August. The little guy is me. I will be seventy in December.
Days That Cause This Heart to Yearn
In stillness ceiling fans all turned
Such quiet caused this heart to yearn
To live once more in days gone by
Where youth and spirits touched the sky.
Oh days of youth, days from the past
Days that were there but not to last
Those days are gone, not to return
Such days doth cause this heart to yearn.
David, my dear friend, I have been out of tGy computer! For right now, the computer is working, and I found my password.....I make many mistakes and have to retype, and you probably know the test 0f the aging problems, so I',, skip them. What a moving poem David, all the more so because we can see the faces of your brothers, and your own as a young boy...However we have been given the precious gift of memory....and I can bear witness to your wonderful memory from reading the fantastic and heart warming book about your childhood...There is much to treasure in remembrance....of lives well and happily lived...

Working on my autobiography, I am reminded of those days. So sad to hear of your brothers. All three of mine, two of which have had major medical problems that they have overcome, are still living and living well.
David, I feel exactly the same as you do...this is lovely, as usual. Our hearts may yearn for what once was but such is life. We will somehow learn to deal with what our Maker sends our way. Hugs to you!
