A Broken Heart

Summary: We sometimes become someone we don't recognize in relationships. The key in love is to not lose yourself. Easier said than done.

 

What was once ‘effortless’ has become full of effort

Caught up in a whirlwind of remorse and hurt

Back and forth, forth and back

Is it something she has that I lack?

 

The L word is running rampid in my head

Thoughts jumbled with the Bo Robinson flow

Day in and day out sittin’ at my desk daydreamin’

Wondering how I could have ever let him walk away 7 months ago

 

But then reality hits and I realize I am in bed alone

While my so-called man wanders and roams

Lost at sea he might as well be

Can’t see the forest from the trees

 

Lost his will to fight, his pride, his self-esteem

Trying to move forward with yet another scheme

Hoping God is not watching while he makes his move

Hoping I will forgive him like the last fool

 

But my love is genuine and it seems I’m in it alone

My man continues to wander and roam

I’m no longer all the woman he needs

From my strength and nourishment he can no longer feed

 

I’ve given my all and prayed to the very end

But my kisses remain blowing in the wind

Gone like yesterday, the Bo Robinson days

Love letters & phone sessions continue to amaze

 

Falling deeper in love with the man I once knew

A man in the Lord, a good man, and true

Went to work every day and came home every night

Made me weak in the knees with a wink of his eye

 

A smile that could melt me like ice into water

A dedication and loyalty like no other

Oh where Oh where has that man went?

I just knew he was heaven-sent

 

Now I open my eyes and he’s vanished again

Not to return til who-knows-when

I sit in silence holding the pieces of my heart

Trying to figure out how to make a new start

 

Who is this man who invaded my life?

Told me I would be his wife

Strung me along on promises of forever

Guaranteeing we can storm any weather

 

Who was that man who disappeared into the night?

Into the darkness and out of my light

Into the arms of another

The reasons meaningless, but soon discovered

 

Not for love, comfort, passion, or meaning

No matter the reason to me is demeaning

You are not the man I thought I knew

Doing things I never thought you would do

 

All I can do is pray for your soul

Pray that the Lord can make you whole again

Pray that you find your way back home to Him

Pray that you find happiness in your heart again

 

But right here and right now I must proceed

With my life as it is, since you have planted the seed

The seed of mistrust, betrayal and unkind

Another love I must seek to find

 

If you love me you will let me go

So both of us have time to grow

Thank you for the chance to love you

I never knew what ALL love could do…until I met you.
