The way it lit your eyes
And transformed your face

The sensuality of your lips
How they moulded to mine

The caress of fingers on my face
Or threaded through my hair

The passion shared
Those whispered words
into my ear…

You touched my face
With fingers softened by love
Caressed my eyelids
My nose, my cheeks
And then my lips
Told me I had a fairy’s ears
I laughed
You smiled
And said “You’re beautiful”
The words reached deeper than skin
You saw my heart
In it, a reflection of yours
As we made love
I looked up at your face
Your lips curved in a smile
and eyes heavy with passion
My chest ached with longing
I never wanted that moment to end
In my heart it never will

Enfolded in the warm circle of your arms
I listened to the rhythm of your heart
And felt your lips warm in my hair
I wept with joy
You kissed the tears from my eyes
And held me closer
Your fingers softly caressing my back
I closed my eyes and inhaled your scent
Absorbing with my senses
Your essence, to draw upon
When you’re no longer here

I took a photo of you with a
cherry tomato on your nose
and a boyish grin upon your face
I laughed at your playfulness
Later I became reflective and serious
And lowered my eyes 
so that you wouldn’t see my tears
I looked up to find you smiling,
A wedge of feta cheese
Protruding from your nostril
I laughed through tears, feeling silly
but that mischievous gesture
brought light into the room again

I reached for your hand
Trusting like a child
and you led me down
the cobbled paths
to your chalet at the lodge
My heartbeat sounded so loud
I wondered if you could hear it
I felt the tremor in your hand
And tightened my grip
You led me to where
I’ve always wanted to go
Not just a place on one magical night
But a destination I’m finding still…

What an incredible first night we had
Fire burning in comforting crackles
A candle illuminating our faces
In shadows and dreams
You kissed my hand
And I felt the ripple of that touch
To the center of my being
At first I felt so shy
You told me you were nervous too
That helped a bit
But still we lapsed into silence
And awkward moments
Perhaps we’d said all we had to say
The language of our eyes
Spoke more than we ever could....
