New Year Together

We decided not to go out
to join the throngs of revellers
but to celebrate the New Year
together, just the two of us
Wearing silly hats
we counted down
then blew our horns
and threw party streamers.
We kissed tenderely
and cuddled up on the couch
While fireworks popped outdoors
(Somehow I missed the display)
It was not a spectacular evening
but it was perfect
I spent this night with you...

Spending the night with a significant other is always far more enjoyable than the madding crowds outside. I enjoyed this poem.
