Song written and performed by Edwin.
A two-chord experiment from an old scratch tape he made that I found and thought I'd include with this poem.

DON'T LOOK DOWN

When you climb higher
than you’ve ever been before,
don’t look down
it’s so easy to fall.
The way may seem steep.
It’s a long uphill grind
but don’t dwell too much
o
n what is behind.
The brave forge on
l
ong after others give in,
- k
eep their eyes on the goal
a
nd know they will win
Life is so short
a
nd time soon runs out.
There’s no time for fear
a
nd no time for doubt.
All of these weights
w
ill add to the load
a
nd then it may seem
l
ike a very long road.
You could have nothing
You could have it all
“But don’t look down
It’s such a long long way to fall”

Indeed, we have to get past the past, and live outside ourselves, rather than suffer morbid introspection...
Climb high climb far, your goal the sky, your aim the star..
Keep on keeping on Chanti

I like the positive slant you give most, if not all, of your poetry/song. This is needed in today's world more than ever I believe. Good writing . . . Good music . . .

I surely enjoyed this write! I took it in a different perspective at first...then read other reviews and saw theirs.Abstract that I am...could only picture my hike into the Grand Canyon and out and up, up, up!Looking down was so awesome...the higher I climbed the more I wanted to see how far I had gotten and the accomplishment made me feel so good!!!
I love your writing Chanti!

LOL Kate. I think Ed probably recorded this 2-chord experiment in the 80's so you were spot on there. It is the first take of an old number. He has written and composed a lot more since then. Thanks to all for your comments.

What a wonderful find... no wonder you seek to highlight it... like the best of the best from the 1980s it seems to me... Sorry, probably showin me age here... but reminds me of what kept me rockin along when I was decorating my first Victorian flat in Fulham, London... VERY professional... My congratulations.... I hope this new Retro sound makes it B-I-G!! Words and music fit each other to a T. Great! TY K xx

Chanti, great write, as usual. I found this to be so inspiring and insightful. If we always look down, we are not looking for our blessings, I believe God sends his blessings to us from up above......don't you? Looking up we can see what is falling out of the sky, maybe for us. if not, then next time maybe. We should always be looking up and walking straight so we don't miss out on anything!! I am selfish, I want everything God has to give to me!!

Keep em comin' sweetie,
Linda

Great pen. One must anchor them selves securely with each new height they climb. This way if you slip it's but a short distance and easily recovered.

Life is, indeed, a forward motion! You have said it so well in this beautiful poem. I could get carried away with sappy words of praise, but let me stop before my words seem, somehow, diluted and simply say that this is excellent in every way, Chanti.
Take care,
