I've skated the knife edge of fear with bare feet and felt the agony of sliced flesh exposed to the bone. I've swum the frozen lake of rejection naked and vulnerable, Experienced the biting cold Felt paralysed, lost and alone. I've questioned the wisdom of others and my own wisdom even more. The greatest chasm I must bridge is between here and there. - the place I want to be.
To overcome takes great faith To endure in spite of the pain wrought by radical change. Nothing is accomplished If I don't dare To be more than I've ever been before Not to hold back but to forge forward, eyes to the sky protected by an inner core solidified by determination and strengthened by conviction. The weapons are in my hands Now it's time I won the war.
Let noone or anything hold you back. When others are jealous of you, take no notice, you are what you want you to be and have worked hard for it. Sorry I missed 2006 wishing you a Happy New Year, but glad I got to read this poem now. From Pennsylvania and the land of the free, greetings to you now on Mother's Day.

The first four lines are an awesome way to express living in fear, and most all of us have experienced the paralysing, lost effect of rejection. Many readers will be able to identify with this poem and I love it when poems capture something universal to human experience. I was a little taken aback by the use of weapons and war in the last two lines. For me, those lines don't fit the poem even though they get your idea across. Just my reaction.

Nice work of thought on the subject of overcoming the many obstacles that life thows at us, it is a reality that many struggle with, but the ones that taste of victory are the ones who have tasted of the war of life...nice work on this poetic expression...
