Aleppo now has no other name
History has recorded its fame
The ruling clique has no shame
The entire world falls into blame
Will no one at all save Aleppo?
A city fully destroyed,
With human lives toyed.
Daily life no longer enjoyed,
We are looking into the void.
Can anyone save Aleppo?
Wherever we may go,
We feel the undertow.
Listen to the cries of woe,
With no hope of tomorrow.
Can anyone save Aleppo?
Mothers only embrace sorrow;
Sad orphans bow their heads low;
Fearful civilians flee with the crow;
Starving children no longer grow;
Can anyone save Aleppo?
War planes now fly overhead;
We seek puff clouds instead;
Exploding bombs we dread;
Soon we will all be dead,
Unless someone saves Aleppo.
This will be our very last day;
There is nothing left to say.
What misery we have to pay;
Can anyone this horror delay?
If only someone can save Aleppo!

Aleppo stands desolate, an odious crime.
There is something brewing beyond Alleppo and is fucking frightening. We are about to become a world of 3rd world countries if the next administration doesn't quell their greed. Hard to accept, but our democracy is rapidly eroding.
No one will help Aleppo or any other city if there isn't some kind of economic gain to be had in doing so. Cynical, I know, but unfortunately true. A powerful write.
I don't understand why NATO hasn't stepped in. It would've been so much better to have defeated Assad early on. The United Nations seems powerless in its peacekeeping efforts. And why Russia continues to get involved in the Middle East is beyond me (oil?). It's a terrible human catastrophe that there seems no solution to.
You have bared your soul and reached into your chest and pulled your heart out and held it up to us with this one, John..........The reality of it all tries to kill the spirit of those, who if they could, would help. Bless them!!

A griping write. Such sorry and misery in that part of the world. Savages. It is one thing to make war on a defenseless people, quite another thing to ravage, humiliate, torture and kill civilian children, and enslave their women for sexual favors. Who will save Aleppo, indeed.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
