I never wish to take the same road twice;
Every road I take offers my soul a little spice.
Every road I venture upon becomes my road;
Every destination serves as my fitting abode.
I wander far and wide but never really feel lost;
My every effort has been done at reasonable cost.
I have drawn immense satisfaction from my pains;
Achievement, fulfillment became my earthly gains.
The abundant heather that I have softly tread upon
Will produce fresh blooms after I am dead and gone.
My tender heart sometimes freezes like fern in frost.
What am I but a flower myself, just plucked and tossed.
I have never lost precious sight of my native green hills,
Nor can the world ever console me with its bitter pills.
What I have seen during my travels both wild and free,
I would give up the entire world one last time to see.
Now it is time to give way to the receding ocean tide;
I still see a final road before me I will take in my stride.
Life is a circle whose line eventually becomes complete;
One step at a time the square becomes a circle unique.
You certainly have come full circle and traveled far. Now is the time to contemplate what it means and return to a more childish way of looking at life.
Unlike you, I have desired to travel the same road again after many years. When I do that, I often find that the way is different and that things have changed. But that is not always the case like when I returned to a familiar home that I remembered fondly 20 years later and found that it was very much the same as when I left it. I'm not sure how it is now. Its aging former owner told me last year that it was being foreclosed (from a family member). So I probably wouldn't find things the same anymore.
