Sometimes I wake up in the morning feeling mean,
The day all extra bright, but not what it may seem.
My dreams washed up, dried out, and on the run,
I just want to take out my meanness on everyone.
The kids run every which way from one grim look,
They know my moods as if I were an open book.
My good wife is accustomed to this habit long ago;
Truth to tell, there’s not much of me she doesn’t know.
She manages to keep quiet until my mood may settle,
Busy in the kitchen making tea by tending the kettle.
Our moods are like the weather, always storms arisin’,
We don’t always see them coming over the horizon.
The mystery of their origin lies in some dark source;
Like cave animals they appear, then run their course.
WELL DONE, JOHN! WHEW, I LOVED THIS, SO FINE...RHYME, RHYTHM, PHRASES ALL RUNNING TOGETHER SO SMOOTHLY, FROM BEGINNING TO END, PAINTING A 'SO' BELIEVABLE PICTURE. AND A LITTLE ADVISE TO ANYONE WHO CAN RELATE...? PRAYING IN THE AM D-O-E-S MAKE A B-I-G DIFFERENCE(HA! HA!)NOW HOW DID I KNOW THAT? THANKS FOR SHARING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS ISPIRATIONS
You have described the moods of a human well here, there are days I feel like a cave animal too lol, other days I feel like God's angel, lol, other days, just plain old me, it's all the same, just different sides of us, I enjoy your poem this morning have a great day dear poet xo
I also have days like that. I wake up on the wrong side of the bed, and everyone knows, I'ts best to just leave me alone untill the anger has run its course and is spent.
It's usually something eating away at us that distracts us from being civil. Getting older also seems to make some men more grouchy. Come to think of it, I never seem to have seen my grandfather in a good mood or a happy one. That's too bad. Only remembering him laughing that time he deliberately disturbed some bees and then stood still while he watched them chase my brother and I, trying to out run them.
Love ya!
