In daytime, the world offers definition,
Everything we see has its own rendition.
The earth offers a carpet of solid ground;
The sky makes us feel safe and sound.
The earth as green as anything we knew,
The sky overhead like a dome, oh so blue.
At night, city lights steal the stars’ thunder;
A night sky in the desert a celestial wonder.
At night, a desert gives off an inhuman glow;
The stars seem to offer their peace, like snow.
As I gaze upward, I suddenly feel oh so small,
As small as the stars in heaven as they crawl.
Then I am touched and feel suddenly oh so big,
Just like a bird must feel, as it sits upon a twig.

Echoes of "Alice"......feeling big and then feeling small. Yes, you have captured the feeling many of us feel when looking into the night time sky. Beautiful!!

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
Thanks for reminding us that there still are places where the sky is pristine and the night view is awesome.
