The Edge of Impossibility
By John Herlihy

We live on the edge of impossibility;
Life’s improbabilities there for all to see.
They lure, they lunge, they glitter and glare;
At the edge of life’s horizon, they simply stare.
Take us, then embrace us, free for the asking,
When all the while only the forbidden masking.
We live on hope that tinkers there on the edge,
A mirage to fill blurred vision like a false pledge.
Impossibility waits at the edge of shadowy night,
Light diminishing before shadow steals the light.
Our fanciful ambitions fan out like a palm frond;
Our blind aspirations ripple as wavelets on a pond.
We walk on tiptoes through a minefield of desire,
Our beating hearts burning with illusions on fire.
Now beaten and broken, shattered apart like glass;
Horizon’s edge went nowhere, still holding on fast.
Life’s end turns a corner looking the worse for wear;
All those impossibilities still beckoning, still there.

WE CAN BE QUITE ASSURED OF THIS ONE THING; GOD'S PERFECT WILL FOR OUR LIVES WILL BE FULFILLED BEFORE WE CLOSE OUR EYES ON THIS SIDE. WHATEVER IMPOSSIBILITIES THAT SEEM TO BE BECKONING AT THAT TIME...ARE MERE DISTRACTIONS TRYING TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE GLORY WHICH GOD HAS MADE POSSIBLE...OUR ETERNAL DESTINATION. IN OTHER WORDS; EVERYTHING THAT MEANS ANYTHING WILL BE FULFILLED ON THIS SIDE...ANYTHING NOT FULFILLED...FORGET IT, IT'S NOT RELEVANT TO OUR SALVATION. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Could just as well be the edge of possibility. It is that location where we no longer know. And it resides just beyond our knowledge. A cool idea and a cool write.

yes, when it is so nearby you don't even look at it; when it is so far away from you, you just set off for achieving that kind of impossibility. Such a strong piece which touches me so deeply. Cheers, alex
