Bona Fide
By John Herlihy

I journeyed to the far horizon of the earth and back,
To fill all the empty spaces to discover what I lack.
Often I feel as a revenant standing on a ghost ship,
The covenant of earth just words hanging on my lip.
I seek a truth that finds its source in a higher power,
But end up fretting my way through the day’s hour.
I chase all those illusions that we hold as promise,
Thinking they will then unfold as an abiding solace.
When people make a promise I do actually believe,
In my innocence, I do not expect people to deceive.
I never fail to have trust in the higher powers that be,
But at times, I hear no answer, only trust is what I see.
I believe a bona fide truth exists, not as skullduggery,
Out there beyond the far horizon, awaiting discovery.

THE WORD SAYS, 'HE'(THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIGHT) IS A REWARDER OF THOSE THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM. TO ME THIS MEANS HE FINDS US ON THE ROAD AS WE SINCERELY SEARCH FOR HIM...I'VE FOUND THIS TO BE THE BONA FIDE TRUTH. THANKS FOR SHARING, ENJOYED VERY MUCH. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

As you point out, the pursuit of "truth" is beset by treacherous paths. In today's world, the difficulty is exacerbated by the clutter of misinformation as well as a disdain by many for science and its ability to discover truths and in turn contribute to a more "honest" life for all of us, if... we will but seek out the truly rational and principled values we humans are capable of.

The mind of man, put down on paper until recently, is an enigma at best. All seem to be seeking the answer. Some thinking they have it, better than the rest. All of the world's knowledge, rolled into one, makes life better, under the sun. We just have to see it to believe it. And it's good.

With all of misinformation out there today, truth gets harder and harder to find. I can only hop that in the end, truth will prevail. My one big weakness is trusting people to not deceive me, and although I've been deceived to many times to count, I will still trust people. Stupid of me, right?

Every line within this super poem is "bona fide" truth.

A moment of choice is a moment of truth. It's the testing point of our character and competence. All human beings are hardwired to seek out the One Truth. Enjoyed. r
