A SURPRISING TWIST

The senses betray a surprising twist in their role,
Taking up residence in another sense they stole.
The ear sees what the eyes cannot begin to see;
The sharp eye hears what the ear cannot foresee.
We see clearly with the eye a melody that we hear;
Rhythms take on new colors that draw ever near.
The echoes of the plucked violin ride high in the air;
They touch the heart as an emotion seemingly rare.
Exotic smells evoke sure richness that invade touch,
Memorable for their quality and treasured as such.
Taste the culinary delights of the world only to smell,
All the perfumes of Arabia drawn from a desert well.
Our glorious senses hold inner mysteries that save;
To see and hear the crashing of a thunderous wave.

In my opinion these two lines are confusing to me. They seem to contradict each other.
The rest of your poem is excellent in its beauty of what you have delved into.
