I Always Travel Light By John Herlihy I always travel light, Fleeting moments alight. Endless days on the fly, Endless nights on the sly. In the wind but a feather, Ready for all weather. Keeping fit in life’s grove, Always at home on the move. Solid shoes for my protection, Never fear any form of rejection. Take no prisoners, no ransom, Value blessings as they come. To treasure what I know, But drag nothing in tow. Amazing places I have seen, Subtle wisdom I have gleaned. Give everyone their just due, Remember fondly friends I knew. As I say, I always travel light, The end of the road now in sight. When my end finally comes, Ready to add up my sums. Owe nothing to my enemies, Owe everything to my friends. Owe everything to my friends.
One who lives by this rule can only pass away with peace in their heart. Having said that, its the glow of your candle that will remain in people's heart, especially that of friends, have a great day dear friend. xo

I like this poem in the beginning but not when you talk about dying at the end. Why not spend the rest of your time in this world more cheerfully since you don't have any baggages?

Like the tone of this poem and its message. Traveling lightly through life without becoming a burden to anyone is as good as it gets. But you "take no prisoners?" Do you kill them all? ;-)

It's amazing how much stuff a person can accumulate. What amazes me even more, is the store and lock it buildings that have sprung up over the years. People have so much stuff, they need to rent extra space to store it all.

An interesting character described here. What makes it even more-so, John, is the probability of it being biographical. Your poem brought to mind a Charlotte Bronte line from Jane Eyre: "I am no bird, and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will." Peace to you... r
