-- ENDLESS --

By John Herlihy

I want to see things I never see the end of,

Some things really do seem so endless.

Endless ripples across the heart’s serene bay,

Endless days with their inscrutable way,

Endless dark nights to cover our feeble sights,

Endless love with feathery wings of a dove,

Endless power that never diminishes the hour,

Endless time that will make eternity mine,

The endless sky blue whose mystery God knew

The endless ocean magical as a charmed potion,

The endless forest in eternal shadow promised,

The endless desert harbors a well as present,

The endless garden that need seek no pardon,

Endless merit that will fill the cup of my spirit.

The Light of God to make my pieces whole,

The Spirit of God that will fill my empty soul.

Endless friendship that supports a true friend,

I want to fill myself with things that never end..

VERY GOOD WORK...THAT SPEAKS OF WHAT MANY OF US WANT AND CERTAINLY THERE IS NOTHING WITH DESIRING 'THINGS' THAT WE FEEL ARE ENDLESS. BUT THE WORD SAYS THAT EVERYTHING WILL CHANGE...END. ONLY GOD AND HIS WORD WILL STAND FOREVER...ENDLESSLY AND, WHEN WE THINK ABOUT IT, THIS IS, INDEED, THE VERY BEST THING TO BE FILLED WITH. THANKS FOR THE SHARE. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

I think this speaks to longings we all have - things we have deep in our soul - that seeking of something that might be our own mortality. This is a lovely poem, John. I especially like the line:

'The Spirit of God that will fill my empty soul.'Fine poetry here!

Endless is a very nice word to latch onto and tug it for
all it's worth. It's sort of like taffy that stretches
forever. Super write!
