-- Believing in Things -–

John Herlihy

You make me believe in things once long forgotten,

Faded memories, lost potential no longer begotten.

Life has a way of destroying our hopes and beliefs,

Now in advancing age cast aside amid jagged reefs.

You make me think I can feel deep emotion again,

My heart is still beating, still touched by a woman.

All memory of unabashed love lost in the past tense,

Age had built a barrier to stand as the last defense.

Now I feel as if I were in the first blush of my youth,

Born free, childlike, feelings of bliss, still uncouth.

When all seemed lost, my belief system shattered,

You opened my weary eyes to all that still mattered.

We can soar over mountain peaks on uplifted wings,

A new life can begin when we still believe in things.

I AGREE WITH THIS, UNTIL, FOR REAL...'REALITY' SETS IN. HOWEVER...THE 'DREAMING' IS GOOD AND BELIEVING IN THINGS, REMEMBERING... HOW IT 'ONCE WAS'...IS NICE AS LONG AS WE DON'T STRAY TOO FAR FROM, AGAIN...'REALITY'. THANKS FOR THE SHARE. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

I believe, and I have believed, but still a new life has yet to come along, but I guess we can still hope for one...-e-

A lot can happen when she comes along to make us believe. Believe me, it's happened more than once and your poem fits the thoughts perfectly.
